Bolt Launches Flight-Tracking Feature for Hassle-Free Airport Pickups in South Africa

Bolt South Africa is making airport travel smoother with its latest innovation—Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides. This smart new feature automatically adjusts pick-up times if a customer’s flight is delayed or cancelled, ensuring a seamless, stress-free ride from airport to destination.

Whether you’re a frequent business traveller or planning a holiday, delayed flights can be frustrating. Now, with Bolt’s flight tracking functionality, customers can sync their flight details directly in the Bolt app when scheduling a ride. If plans change, Bolt updates the pick-up time or cancels the ride at no extra cost.

How It Works

To use the feature, simply:

  1. Tap ‘Schedule’ on the home screen next to the destination search bar.

  2. Enter the arrival airport and your destination.

  3. Select ‘Add flight details’ and input your flight’s landing date, airline, flight number, or departure city.

  4. Choose how many minutes after landing you’d like to be picked up.

Bolt will then automatically monitor the flight and adjust the ride accordingly.

Convenience at Major Airports

“Bolt is an official ride-hailing partner at over 30 airports globally, including major hubs like OR Tambo International (JNB), Cape Town International (CPT), King Shaka (DUR), Lanseria (HLA), and Port Elizabeth (PLZ),” says Lerato Motsoeneng, Senior General Manager at Bolt South Africa.

“With Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides, our private and Bolt Business customers can enjoy greater peace of mind. If their flight is delayed or cancelled, their ride is automatically updated. No more extra charges or extended waits,” she adds.

This means customers can walk straight from the arrivals terminal to their ride, without needing to locate pickup points—saving time and reducing hassle.

Boosting Business Travel Reliability

The feature is also a game-changer for Bolt Business, which continues to grow across South Africa. Companies using Bolt Business benefit from:

  • Scheduled employee and client rides

  • Centralised billing

  • Detailed trip reporting

  • Access to the same trusted platform their teams already know

With rising demand for corporate travel reliability, the addition of Flight Tracking strengthens Bolt’s value to business users, especially at busy airports.

Ride Scheduling Gains Popularity

According to Bolt, ride scheduling has surged in popularity—recording a 275% increase in usage locally. With airports being the top destinations for Bolt trips, the company is also working on improving visibility of pickup zones and faster matching with nearby driver partners to reduce airport wait times even further.

With its new Flight Tracking for Scheduled Rides, Bolt is leading the way in responsive, customer-focused airport travel in South Africa. Whether for personal trips or corporate travel, Bolt’s commitment to convenience and reliability is helping passengers land and leave on time—no matter what the skies have in store.
