Northgate Road Race 2025: The Jozi Fitness Favourite Returns with Cash, Medals and Vibes

Lace Up Joburg, Northgate’s Favourite Race Is Back

Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a weekend warrior, or just in it for the medal and a good selfie, the Northgate Road Race is calling. This beloved community event returns to the streets of Northriding on Sunday, 20 July 2025, bringing together fitness fans of all ages for a morning of adrenaline, achievement, and neighbourhood cheer.

Backed by the Roodepoort Athletics Club and hosted at Northgate Shopping Centre, the race offers both a 10 km challenge for the more committed and a 5 km run or walk for those after a lighter dose of endorphins.

A Run for Everyone And Then Some

From juniors to great grandmasters, every age group gets a spot on the road, and possibly on the podium too. The 10 km race is a timed event, and if you’re affiliated with Athletics South Africa (ASA), don’t forget to show up in your club colours with your 2025 licence numbers on full display (front and back).

Not part of a club? No stress. You can still join in by purchasing a temporary licence for R60 when registering.

Expect the usual competitive edge, but also the unmatched camaraderie that Jozi locals bring. Whether you’re aiming for a personal best or just enjoying a sunrise jog with friends, there’s a medal in it for everyone who crosses the finish line, plus a chance to win up to R800 in prize money for top finishers in each age category.

Entry Fees:

• 10 km: R150 per person

• 5 km: R80 per person

• Grandmasters (60+): R70 for 10km, R60 for 5 km

• Temporary Licence (10km only): R60
