Tyla Drops ‘Chanel’ in Style: A Luxe Celebration of Confidence, Fashion, and Femininity
The pop star turns a single release into a global fashion moment
South Africa’s very own Grammy winner Tyla has done it again, blending sound, style, and self-assurance in a way only she can. Her new single, Chanel, has finally landed on streaming platforms, and it is already being hailed as her most fashion-forward release yet.
To mark the moment, the 23-year-old hosted a “Put Her in Chanel” brunch in Los Angeles, complete with high-end glamour, vintage fashion pieces, and an empowering message for women everywhere.
A Visual Feast
The Chanel music video dropped alongside the single, and fans were instantly captivated by its golden-age aesthetic. Styled by Ronnie Hart, Tyla steps into archival Chanel looks that feel both nostalgic and rebellious. Among the standout pieces is a white hula-hoop bag from Karl Lagerfeld’s 2013 collection, paired with 90s accessories once worn by supermodels Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington.
Every outfit tells a story, not just of fashion, but of power. Hart revealed that sourcing these museum-quality items was a labour of love. “Some of these pieces cost over $20,000 each. We had to pull favours and sign agreements just to borrow them. But it was worth it,” he said in an interview with Vogue.
The Brunch Heard Around LA
At her Los Angeles celebration, Tyla brought together influencers, industry friends, and stars from the music video for an intimate morning of style and sisterhood. Guests each received custom Chanel mirrors engraved with personal messages, a small but symbolic nod to self-love and worth.
“I’m here to spoil the girls,” Tyla told the crowd during her toast. “This song is special because it’s not just about luxury; it’s about knowing your value. It’s for the girls who know exactly what they bring to the table.”
The event trended across social media as fans and fashion insiders shared photos of the pastel-toned setup, crystal glasses, and guests dressed to the nines. It felt less like a promo and more like a statement, with Tyla positioning herself as a global pop figure who moves between music and luxury effortlessly.

Collaboration and Controversy
Chanel also features a surprise appearance from Canadian R&B artist Partynextdoor, whose smooth vocals echo through the track with the refrain “Put her in Chanel.” The feature comes after Tyla told Capital Xtra earlier this year that he was one of her dream collaborators.
But not everything around the release has been calm. Rapper Yung Miami recently claimed that Tyla “ran off” with a similar concept after hearing her unreleased song Take Me to Chanel. She even posted, “Take me to Chanel > put me in Chanel,” sparking online debate over creative ownership.
Tyla, however, has not commented on the matter, choosing instead to let her music and her growing list of achievements speak for themselves.
From Johannesburg to the World
For many South Africans, Tyla’s rise represents a new wave of local artists who balance global stardom with authenticity. Her ability to merge amapiano undertones with mainstream R&B has made her a genre-blending powerhouse.
And while Chanel may sound like a glitzy love letter to designer dreams, its heart is pure empowerment. It’s about knowing your worth, dressing like it, and celebrating it, whether in Johannesburg, Los Angeles, or anywhere confidence shines.
