Tupperware Goes Glass: Meet the New ‘Voila’ Sustainable Range

For decades, Tupperware has been synonymous with plastic lunchboxes and pantry staples in South African homes. Now, the brand is making a bold leap into glass with its first-ever oven-safe, non-toxic line: Voila Glass.

The range is designed to move seamlessly from freezer to oven to table, offering busy households a sustainable and convenient alternative to traditional plastic storage. This marks a major rebranding moment for Tupperware as it seeks to shake off its old image and compete with glass kitchenware stalwarts like Pyrex.

A Nod to Heritage, a Step Toward Sustainability

Since 1946, Tupperware has woven itself into global kitchen culture, with South African homes famously hosting “Tupperware parties.” After financial struggles and near-bankruptcy, the company is reinventing itself with modern design and eco-conscious materials.

Voila Glass features borosilicate glass containers that withstand temperatures from –25°C to 300°C. That means you can safely bake a lasagna, serve it at the table, and store leftovers in the fridge, all in the same dish.

Three Sizes for Every Occasion

The collection comes in three shapes:

  • Round (1.7 L): Perfect for pies and single-dish meals.

  • Square (1.6 L): Ideal for desserts.

  • Rectangular (3 L): Great for family-sized lasagna or casseroles.

Each container includes grippy rims, built-in measurement markers, airtight press-lock lids, and a steam-release vent for microwave reheating, blending practicality with innovation.

Competitive Pricing and Recipe Inspiration

In the US, prices start at $24 (≈R432) for the smallest container and go up to $34 (≈R612) for the largest. A bundle of all three retails at $74 (≈R1,332), competitive with premium glass sets in South Africa.

To showcase versatility, Tupperware has developed recipes like Berry Cobbler Cake, baked directly in the dish, demonstrating the convenience of moving straight from oven to table to fridge.

Why It Matters for South African Kitchens

Voila Glass signals a new chapter for Tupperware: embracing sustainability, modern functionality, and eco-conscious design. For South African families, this means less plastic, more convenience, and stylish, durable kitchenware that meets the demands of contemporary life.

With the collection expected on local shelves before the festive season, Tupperware is proving that even an iconic brand can evolve, without losing the practicality and reliability generations of South Africans have come to trust.
