The internet loves a juicy conspiracy, especially when it involves A-list power couples, billion-dollar brands, and a splash of drama. But Hailey Bieber just slammed the brakes on one of the latest and loudest.

Speculation had been swirling online that her recent $1 billion sale of Rhode Skin to e.l.f. Beauty was somehow connected to Justin Bieber’s unresolved $31.5 million financial dispute with former manager Scooter Braun. The theory? That Justin was holding off on settling his debt until his wife cashed in.

Now, Hailey’s team is setting the record straight.

“The historic sale of Rhode is a huge accomplishment for Hailey and is completely separate from her husband and his business affairs,” her rep told Daily Mail on 17 July.

The backstory: Justin, Scooter, and a tour that never happened

In case you missed it, Justin reportedly still owes Scooter Braun a sizeable sum. The amount, $31.5 million, is said to stem from unpaid commissions and an advance linked to the cancellation of Justin’s Justice World Tour in 2022.

The Biebs hasn’t commented publicly on the matter, but that silence left the door wide open for internet theories. Once Hailey’s billion-dollar beauty win made headlines in May 2025, some assumed she was footing the bill behind the scenes.

Not true, says her camp. Hailey’s success with Rhode stands independently, and according to sources close to the couple, the idea that she’s covering Justin’s debts is pure fiction.

Rhode Skin’s rise, and Hailey’s role in the business

Launched in 2022, Rhode Skin became a cultural phenomenon. Loved for its minimalist products and that signature “glazed doughnut skin” look, it quickly became one of the most talked-about beauty brands online.

Hailey, 28, remains hands-on. She’ll stay on as Chief Creative Officer and Head of Innovation and will also serve as a strategic advisor for e.l.f. post-acquisition. It’s clear this isn’t a vanity project; it’s her brainchild.

And Justin? He’s been cheering her on from the start. In fact, when the Rhode deal was announced, he shared the press release and a photo of Hailey on Instagram with a simple heart emoji: classic quiet husband energy.

Support, scrutiny, and staying grounded

Hailey’s spoken openly about Justin’s role in helping her navigate the pressure of the public eye, especially in a relationship so heavily scrutinised.

“I’ve learned so much from Justin,” she told Vogue in May. “He’s been doing this since he was a child and has faced the most scrutiny of anyone I know.”

Their bond clearly goes beyond headlines. Whether they’re celebrating six years of marriage, raising their baby boy Jack, or just posting loved-up selfies in Aspen, the Biebers seem to have mastered the art of tuning out the noise.

And as for Rhode? It’s Hailey’s win; no disclaimers needed.
