Kaylow Recovering in Hospital After Surviving Another Car Crash

The Soul Singer Who Refuses to Lose His Rhythm
South African soul artist Kaylow is counting his blessings once again. The award-winning singer, whose real name is Kelello Segoana, confirmed that he survived another serious car accident over the weekend and is currently recovering in the hospital.
The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday, 18 October 2025, as Kaylow was driving home from a late-night recording session in Ruimsig, Johannesburg, to his family in Tshwane. According to his official statement on Instagram, a tyre blowout on the N1 near Beyers Naudé caused him to lose control of his vehicle, resulting in a crash that left his car completely written off.
Despite the frightening ordeal, Kaylow’s message to fans was calm and reassuring. “I am currently in hospital recovering and remain in good spirits,” he shared, thanking supporters for their concern and prayers.
Messages of Love Flood In
Fans and fellow artists have flooded social media with messages of encouragement. Many expressed relief that the Soul Café hitmaker escaped serious harm, while others reflected on how fragile life can be. The outpouring of love highlights just how deeply Kaylow’s smooth voice and humble nature have resonated with South African audiences over the years.
This is not the first time he has faced such an ordeal. In September 2024, the singer was hospitalised following another car crash. At that time, his management team also issued a statement of gratitude for the public’s compassion and patience as he recovered.
Now, with a second near-miss in as many years, fans are calling him “blessed” and urging him to take as much time as he needs before returning to music.
A Voice That Still Inspires
Born in Soweto, Kaylow has spent more than a decade shaping the sound of contemporary R&B and house in South Africa. His career began in 2009 when he collaborated with producer Darque on Difference in London, and his 2014 debut album, Reach Out, introduced his signature blend of tenderness and soul.
The title track, The Soul Café, became a national favourite and remains one of his most beloved songs. Over the years, Kaylow continued to evolve, delivering heartfelt projects like War for Love (2017), which earned him the Best Male Vocalist title at the South African Dance Music Awards.
His more recent releases, including the 2021 single 24 Hours, show an artist who balances emotion with effortless class, a sound that’s both comforting and distinctly his own.

Stronger Than Before
For Kaylow, this latest accident is a sobering reminder of life’s fragility, but also of faith and resilience. Judging by his tone online, the musician isn’t dwelling on fear. Instead, he’s focusing on gratitude and recovery.
Fans are hopeful that, once he’s healed, he’ll return to doing what he does best, crafting music that moves people. Until then, the South African music community seems united in one message: take your time, Kaylow, and come back stronger.
