MaMkhize Auction Nears R4.5m as Bids Surge for Lamborghini

A Glamorous Auction with High Stakes
South Africans are glued to their screens as Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize’s seized assets go under the hammer. With hours left before closing, bids have already climbed beyond R4.4 million, and the total is expected to top R4.5 million.
The online sale, hosted by Bidders Choice, features her prized 2021 Lamborghini Urus alongside a line-up of authenticated designer handbags from Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, and Goyard. Each piece carries not only a price tag but also a slice of the MaMkhize legend.
From Glamour to the Gavel
Bidders Choice managing director Pieter Geldenhuys says the rush began the moment the auction opened. “Bidding was immediate and intense,” he confirmed, adding that buyers came from across the country, many acting on behalf of clients who knew exactly which handbags they wanted.
By mid-morning on 15 October 2025, the most competitive bids stood at:
-
Lamborghini Urus (2021) – R4.3 million (R4.7 million with commission)
-
Louis Vuitton monogram case – R20 500
-
Two Louis Vuitton Zephyr suitcases – R46 000 combined
-
Gucci Floral Ophidia handbag – R11 000
-
Saint Laurent Care Maxi tote – R29 000
-
Goyard Red Villette tote – R14 000
Each item was verified in Sandton by independent luxury-goods specialists, confirming authenticity and silencing old social-media rumours that some of her collection was counterfeit.
Behind the Luxury: A Legal Backdrop
The sale stems from a long-running R40 million tax dispute between MaMkhize and the South African Revenue Service (SARS). The agency seized her luxury assets earlier this year, with proceeds from the auction going toward that debt.
MaMkhize, known for her lavish lifestyle and ownership of Royal AM Football Club, saw her club placed under SARS curatorship before being expelled from the PSL, one of South Africa’s most dramatic sports stories of 2025.
Still, her influence remains strong. For many, this auction isn’t simply about money but about watching a defining chapter in the life of one of the country’s most polarising businesswomen.
All Eyes on the Final Hammer
The auction is split between two locations, including a secure Bapsfontein yard where vehicles are stored. Viewings have drawn bidders from Rustenburg, Bloemfontein, and beyond.
With hours left before the last bid is called, experts expect the final figure to exceed R4.5 million. Whether it marks closure or a new beginning, one thing is clear: MaMkhize’s name still commands attention, even when her empire is up for sale.
