Reandi Grey Saddles Up for Love in ‘Boer Soek ‘n Vrou’ Season 17

The beloved farm-based dating show returns in August with a fresh face and a whole lot of heart
When Reandi Grey first dreamed of working on Boer Soek ‘n Vrou, she never imagined she’d be guiding love stories under the farm skies herself. Now, that dream is a reality. The acclaimed actress has officially been announced as the new host of kykNET’s wildly popular rural dating series, set to return for its 17th season on 7 August 2025.
“I always knew this was something I wanted to do,” Grey shared. “It’s a role I wish for anyone in their life.”
More than just another hosting gig, this opportunity resonates deeply with Grey. Born and raised on a farm, she has a unique insight into the world Boer Soek ‘n Vrou celebrates, the hopes and hearts of farmers seeking genuine connection, not fame.
A New Season, A New Voice
Grey steps into the shoes of former host Marciel Hopkins, who guided city hearts toward farm-bound romance for four seasons. But Grey brings something fresh: a personal, textured, and deeply sincere approach.
“There’s something about the raw emotion of this show, the vulnerability, the courage. It makes you want to believe in love again,” she said.
This season introduces ten new farmers aged between 26 and 56 from across South Africa. From prickly pear and salt farmers to cattle and macadamia growers, the lineup is more diverse than ever, with a strong representation from the Free State.
Some standout hopefuls include
-
Nicolaas, a sheep and crop farmer from Bredasdorp
-
Rudi H, raising boer goats in Windsorton
-
Lourie, a cattle farmer from Vryburg
-
Evert, managing macadamia, citrus, and game farming in Tshipise
-
Christof, growing prickly pears and producing salt
Each man brings his own story, quiet strength, and, as Grey puts it, “so much love to give.”
From Scripted Drama to Real Love Stories
Grey is no stranger to South African screens. Many remember her as Esti Fouche on 7de Laan, where she brought grace and grit to the long-running soap. Since then, she’s showcased her versatility on Diepe Waters and launched her own fashion label, Grey Creations.
But hosting Boer Soek ‘n Vrou strikes a different chord.
“All the farmers who have enrolled are people I want to keep close to me for the rest of my life,” Grey said. “Each one is a well-rounded person with so much emotion.”
In an era of flashy dating shows, Boer Soek ‘n Vrou remains refreshingly grounded, and Grey is perfectly cast to honour that authenticity.
What’s New in Season 17?
While the format stays familiar, focusing on farmers who receive the most responses from potential suitors, viewers can expect some surprises. With a new director behind the scenes and Grey in front of the camera, the season promises emotional highs, tender moments, and possibly unexpected twists.
The buzz online is already palpable:
-
“Love Reandi Grey; she’s got the warmth and charm this show needs!”
-
“Can’t wait to see who finds their ‘boer met die hart van goud’ this year.”
More Than Just Matchmaking
Boer Soek ‘n Vrou has never been about flashy romance. It’s about people, often isolated by geography but rich in heart, taking a leap for something real. It’s the courage to open up, the awkward first chats, and the slow but steady spark of something honest.
Reandi Grey isn’t just hosting these stories; she’s holding space for them. And that might be exactly what this season needs.
Catch Boer Soek ‘n Vrou Season 17 every Wednesday from 7 August 2025 at 8pm on kykNET (DStv Channel 144).
