What’s New?

Toyota South Africa has officially listed the updated Corolla Cross GR-Sport on its website, revealing pricing and specifications for the revised model following its unveiling at the automaker’s 2026 State of the Motor Industry (SOMI) event.

The facelifted GR-Sport distinguishes itself from standard Corolla Cross models with a range of sporty design touches inside and out.

Exterior highlights include:

  • A distinct front grille with ‘GR’ badging

  • 18-inch alloy wheels

Inside, the GR treatment brings:

  • ‘GR’ branding embossed on the front seat headrests

  • ‘GR’ branding on the multifunction steering wheel

  • Red seatbelts

  • Aluminium pedals

The effect is a cabin that feels noticeably sportier than the standard model, without sacrificing the Corolla Cross’s renowned practicality.

Powertrains

Buyers have two powertrain options:

  • 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol – producing 103 kW and 172 N.m of torque

  • 1.8-litre petrol-electric hybrid – producing 90 kW and 142 N.m

Both engines send power to the front wheels via a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) .

Toyota has released pricing for the entire Corolla Cross range, with the GR-Sport models sitting near the top:

  • Corolla Cross 1.8 Xi  R420,700

  • Corolla Cross 1.8 XS  R458,400

  • Corolla Cross 1.8 HEV XS  R501,100

  • Service plan spanning six services or 90,000 km

Hybrid models gain an additional 8-year/195,000 km hybrid battery warranty, offering peace of mind for buyers concerned about long-term battery costs.

The Bottom Line

The updated Corolla Cross GR-Sport offers a compelling package for buyers seeking a sporty crossover with Toyota’s legendary reliability. The hybrid option, at a R42,700 premium over the petrol GR-Sport, will appeal to those prioritising fuel efficiency.

With pricing now public, the updated model should reach dealerships shortly. Given the Corolla Cross’s popularity in South Africa, expect these GR-Sport variants to attract significant interest.
