Gauteng police confirm that more than eight bullets struck the vehicle Mogotsi was travelling in, prompting an ongoing investigation into attempted murder.

The incident reportedly occurred around 10 pm on Monday night. SAPS national spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe explained that a security official alerted police after the shooting, which allegedly involved a white bakkie opening fire on Mogotsi’s Chevrolet sedan.

“Upon arrival, we found the security official with Mr Brown Mogotsi. He reported that individuals in a white bakkie started shooting at his vehicle,” Mathe said.

Mogotsi Too Traumatized to Open Case Immediately

Although Mogotsi was advised to open a formal case at the scene, he declined, citing fear for his safety. He later promised to present himself to the Vosloorus police station at around 8 am the following day to officially open the case.

In response to the incident, SAPS seized Mogotsi’s Chevrolet and dispatched a forensic team to gather evidence. “We are investigating a case of attempted murder. Our forensic experts are collecting physical evidence to determine what happened and identify those responsible,” Mathe confirmed.
