Lebanon’s powerful Shiite militant group Hezbollah issued a triumphant statement on Wednesday, praising what it called a “divine victory” by Iran over Israel after nearly two weeks of conflict. In their eyes, this wasn’t just military retaliation, it was a “new historical phase” in resisting what they frame as U.S. and Israeli domination of the region.

The statement came just days after Iran launched a barrage of precision strikes against Israeli military and nuclear targets in response to a massive Israeli bombardment that killed over 600 civilians in Iran, according to the country’s health ministry. Iran’s response, which reportedly killed 28 people in Israel, was hailed by Hezbollah as a symbol of regional defiance.

Beirut Crowd Rallies in Celebration

In Beirut, hundreds of Hezbollah supporters gathered outside the Iranian embassy, waving flags and chanting pro-Iran slogans. The atmosphere resembled a celebration rather than a political demonstration. People danced, held placards, and cheered the resilience of their regional ally, despite the heavy losses both sides have endured.

“We are very happy about this victory that Iran achieved, despite the hits it took,” said Ahmed Mohebbi, 42, who joined the crowd. “Our steadfastness is a victory.”

Tensions escalated dramatically after the United States bombed Iranian nuclear facilities, reportedly in an attempt to prevent Iran from advancing its nuclear program. But intelligence reports suggest that the strikes only delayed Tehran’s progress by a few months — not stopped it.

The classified U.S. assessment may explain why Hezbollah and other Iran-aligned factions see the moment as more than symbolic. They interpret the limited damage as a strategic failure for Washington and Tel Aviv — and a morale boost for Tehran.

Hezbollah’s Defiance Despite Recent Losses

Mohammed Raad, the head of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc, framed Iran’s actions as proof that it remains a “regional deterrent force.”

“It stood up against a tyrannical enemy who sought to impose its hegemony on the whole region,” Raad said in a speech during the rally.

A Shift in the Regional Power Narrative?
