Fleurhof mother Tiffany Meek faces multiple charges after forensic evidence links her to the death of 11-year-old son Jayden-Lee.

The quiet heartbreak of a missing child turned into a national shock as Tiffany Nicole Dunn Meek, 31, was arrested and charged in connection with the murder of her 11-year-old son, Jayden-Lee Meek, after damning forensic evidence pointed to a gruesome crime inside their home.

Jayden-Lee, a student at Royal College in Florida, was last seen on 13 May when his school transport dropped him off at the Fleurhof apartment complex just after 4 p.m. He never made it into the safety of his home—allegedly because he was killed there.

The Case Unfolds: From Missing to Murder

Initially, Tiffany Meek told police she was working from home when her son failed to return, sparking a community-wide search. But the next day, the search ended in horror when Jayden-Lee’s body was found on the stairs near their apartment, visibly clean, warm, and bearing abrasions, suggesting the body had been moved after death.

Crucial Evidence: Blood on Schoolbooks and Clothes

According to the charge sheet presented at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court, forensic investigators found:

  • Blood on Jayden-Lee’s bed

  • His school uniform and bag inside the apartment

  • Bloodstained schoolbooks

  • No signs that the boy ever left the apartment alive

This evidence is at the core of the State’s case, which alleges that Meek struck her son with a blunt object, causing fatal injuries. The murder weapon has not yet been recovered.

Charges and Court Proceedings

Meek is facing charges of:

  • Murder

  • Crimen injuria

  • Attempting to defeat the course of justice

  • Defeating or obstructing the administration of justice

In court, Meek wept as she informed the magistrate that she would be appointing a private attorney. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Friday, 18 July, when bail proceedings and legal representation will be addressed.

A Child’s Safe Space Turned Deadly

Deputy Police Minister Shela Polly Boshielo attended Monday’s court proceedings and expressed outrage at the horrific circumstances.

“Jayden was killed and found in the very space where he should have been safe and secure… his residential complex,” said Boshielo.

She assured the public that the investigation remains active, and more arrests could follow as authorities piece together the full story behind Jayden-Lee’s death.

Motive Still Unknown

As the nation reels from yet another tragic case of violence against a child, questions around why this happened remain unanswered. Authorities have not yet established a clear motive, and speculation is swirling.

For now, justice for Jayden-Lee lies in the hands of the courts and in a community determined to ensure his short life is never forgotten.
