Your Joburg Weekend Forecast: Sunshine, Cool Nights, and a Chance of Showers

Johannesburg is set for a calm and comfortable weekend, with the South African Weather Service pointing to mostly clear skies and steady temperatures. After a week of mixed reports across Gauteng, Joburg locals can finally enjoy a more predictable stretch of weather.
Friday: Warm Days and Cool Evenings
Friday promises the kind of classic late-winter weather Joburgers know well. The skies will stay clear, with temperatures peaking at 28°C before dipping to a crisp 11°C overnight. Humidity remains low at 30 percent, keeping the air dry, while a gentle south-westerly breeze will barely stir. With no rain on the cards, residents can expect a golden sunset just before 6 pm.
Saturday: A Hint of Rain
Saturday brings a slight change. Clouds are expected to gather during the day, bringing a partly cloudy sky across the city. Daytime highs will ease slightly to 27°C, with the same 11°C minimum overnight. While most of the day will still feel pleasant, there is a 30 percent chance of light rainfall, with up to 3 mm possible. For many Joburgers, it is just enough to freshen up the gardens without disrupting outdoor plans.
Sunday: Bright and Breezy
The weekend closes with another dose of clear skies on Sunday. Temperatures will range from 11°C in the morning to a mild 26°C in the afternoon. Humidity climbs to 55 percent, giving the air a touch of moisture, while winds shift northwards and strengthen slightly. It will still be dry, with no rainfall expected.
What This Means for the Weekend Ahead
The most striking feature of this forecast is the consistency of overnight temperatures. At 11°C across all three nights, the evenings will be cool but not biting, offering a welcome balance after warmer days.
For those planning braais, park picnics, or a drive out of the city, Friday and Sunday look like the best picks for uninterrupted sunshine. Saturday’s cloud cover and small chance of showers may bring some relief to parched lawns but should not wash out any plans.
As Joburgers often joke, the city’s weather can shift in an instant. This weekend, however, looks like one to enjoy with confidence.
