Two Lucky Players Share R78.9 Million Lotto Jackpot in South Africa

Two South Africans have become instant multi-millionaires after splitting the massive R78,977,677.80 Lotto jackpot from the June 18, 2025, draw, with each walking away with R39,488,838.90.
According to Ithuba, the National Lottery operator, the winning tickets were bought through very different means — yet both used the popular quick pick method.
Where the Winning Tickets Were Bought
-
First Winner: Played via a banking app, wagering R200 using the quick pick method. Their bank has already notified them of the life-changing win.
-
Second Winner: Bought the ticket at Day and Night Superstore in Johannesburg, spending just R30 using quick pick. This winner has not yet come forward.
Ithuba Urges Winners to Come Forward
Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza said the operator is excited to assist both winners through its Winner Services Team, which offers guidance, financial advice, and emotional support.
“This draw not only produced one multi-millionaire, but two,” Mabuza said. “Both winners will walk away with significant amounts of money that will undoubtedly change their lives.”
Ithuba encourages all players who purchased tickets for the June 18 draw to check their slips. Winners have 365 days from the draw date to claim their prize.
Free Financial Advice for Winners
To ensure that winners make the most of their newfound wealth, Ithuba offers free consultations with certified financial advisors for anyone who wins R50,000 or more.
“Our objective is to empower winners to make informed decisions and secure their financial future,” said Mabuza.
Lotto Changing Lives, One Draw at a Time
This latest jackpot win is a reminder that fortunes can change overnight, whether you spend R200 online or R30 at a local store.
For hopeful South Africans dreaming of their lucky break, this draw is proof: the Lotto can, and does, make millionaires.
