Disillusioned by Party Politics, MKP’s Limpopo Deputy Steps Down

Tensions are rising within the ranks of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) in Limpopo, following the unexpected resignation of deputy organiser Ponani Makhubele. She has also severed links with the party, claiming growing dissatisfaction with way things are conducted behind closed doors.
Makhubele resigned candidly, expressing unhappiness with what she described as a lack of transparency and a favoritism-driven climate. She pointed fingers at Provincial Co-ordinator Maraga Anikie Tshilidzi, accusing her of prioritizing personal allies over appointed authorities.

Her choice represents a significant departure for a party that is still finding its feet nationally. It also hints at deeper concerns inside the MKP’s provincial structures, particularly as the party strives to consolidate support in the run-up to significant political events.
MKP dismisses claims, but admits departure.
While the party has not responded to the claims, MKP spokesperson Thandi Shihundla stated that Makhubele’s resignation had been accepted. She refuted allegations of nepotism and autocratic leadership, calling them “without merit.”
Despite dismissing the allegations, the departure adds to the MK Party’s rising internal turmoil, particularly in areas such as Limpopo, where grassroots organisation is critical.
