While viewers of Mzansi Magic’s Ngicela iVisa know him for his raw relationship drama, Durban’s Sabelo Mwandla is more than just a reality TV contestant. Off-screen, he’s a biker, an aspiring actor, and a man on a mission to learn from his very public mistakes.
Sabelo joined the show with a specific, difficult goal: to untangle a messy love triangle and finally come clean. “I had problems with my fiancée, Sne Magwane,” he admits with refreshing candor. “I was cheating on her with my ex, Zihle, and I wanted to use the show to confess the truth and figure out who I really wanted to be with.”
The Hard Lessons from the iVisa Process
The journey on the show was far from easy. One of his most striking takeaways was a moment of disappointment with his ex, Zihle. “She didn’t give me the respect I deserved as a man,” he shares, an experience that ultimately taught him a profound lesson about the non-negotiable need for honesty and communication in any relationship.
For Sabelo, the show became more than just entertainment; it was a crash course in personal accountability. “This show helps us as men in South Africa to learn that we shouldn’t hide things from our partners,” he reflects. His hope is that the public will see the good in his story and his genuine love for his fiancée, Sne, despite his errors.
Two Wheels and an Open Road
Away from the cameras, Sabelo’s true sanctuary is on the back of a motorcycle. His passion for biking ignited in 2012, and by 2014, he and his friend Vava Vum had co-founded their own club, ILEMBE MCC.
The club is a central part of his identity. “ILEMBE means a lot to me,” he says proudly. “We bikers respect people, give back through donations and support communities.” He also has a simple plea for motorists: a little more respect for bikers on the road, reminding everyone that “we also have families.”
One of his most poignant memories was the somber honor of escorting the funeral procession of the late music legend Mampintsha. “It was a sad day for us because Shimora was a legend. We’ll always miss him,” he recalls.
Gearing Up for a Big 2026
Looking ahead, Sabelo is shifting into a higher gear. His ambitions for 2026 are vast and varied. He plans to join the competitive track bike racing scene and reignite his music career. During the week, he’s focused on acting and is even working on a film project titled Amaroto, which is based on his own life story.
And of course, weekends remain sacred for what he calls “therapy”breakfast runs with his biker brothers from ILEMBE MCC, who are planning their own rally for next year.
His final message is one of grounded advice for the youth. “Education comes first. Stay away from drugs, finish your matric, and find your passion.” And for those who share his love for the open road, he has an open invitation: “If you love bikes, join us.”
With a confident smile, he adds a warning for his future competitors, “Next year, be ready for me on the track, I’m coming full throttle.”
