If you’ve seen social media posts claiming that SASSA beneficiaries will receive double grant payments in June 2025, take a breath — it’s simply not true. Despite the posts flying around WhatsApp and Facebook, the South African Social Security Agency has made it clear: there is no double payment on the way this month.

And honestly, these fake reports aren’t just annoying — they’re dangerous. They cause confusion, raise false hopes, and often put unnecessary pressure on people already navigating tough financial situations. With over 19 million South Africans relying on SASSA every month, clarity is everything.

So, let’s set the record straight with the facts.

The Real Payment Schedule for June 2025

If you’re wondering when your grant will be paid out this month, here’s what you need to know:

  • Older Persons’ Grants: Tuesday, 3 June 2025

  • Disability Grants: Wednesday, 4 June 2025

  • Children’s Grants & Others: Thursday, 5 June 2025

Payments will be made either directly into beneficiaries’ personal bank accounts or loaded onto their SASSA cards. You can also choose to collect your grant at any authorised pay point. The choice is yours, depending on what’s safest and most convenient.

Safety First: No Need to Rush

SASSA has again reminded beneficiaries that there is no need to withdraw your entire grant all at once. Your funds will remain secure in your bank account or SASSA card until you need them. By spacing out withdrawals, you reduce the risk of being targeted by criminals — especially during peak payment periods.

Rumours and Reality: What SASSA Actually Said

Paseka Letsatsi, the official SASSA spokesperson, addressed the misleading reports about double payments directly. He was crystal clear:

“No announcement was made for a double grant payment in June. These reports are false and should be rejected with the contempt they deserve.”

He also confirmed that the only official changes to grants were those announced by the Ministry of Finance in March, which took effect in April 2025. The next round of increases is scheduled for October 2025 — not before.

So, unless a statement comes from SASSA or the Ministry of Finance, don’t believe it. And definitely don’t forward it.

Here’s How You Can Stay Informed

To avoid falling for fake news in the future, always check official SASSA channels for updates. Follow their verified social media pages, check their website, or visit your nearest SASSA office if you need clarity. Word of mouth isn’t always reliable, and scammers are getting better at making lies look legit.

If someone you know is expecting a double payment this June, do them a favour and share this article. Let’s help each other stay informed and safe. In times like these, accurate information isn’t just helpful — it’s essential.
