Sassa Sets the Record Straight: No Double Grants in June, Here’s What You Need to Know

Published

on

Official payment dates for June 2025 have now been established, giving South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) beneficiaries some peace of mind. Sassa has come forward to correct the record amid a social media tempest of misleading information, particularly with relation to unfounded allegations of double grant payments.

Official Grant Payment Schedule for June 2025

If you rely on Sassa’s monthly grants, here are the important dates to diarise:

  • Older Persons Grants: Tuesday, June 3, 2025

  • Disability Grants: Wednesday, June 4, 2025

  • Children’s and Other Grants: Thursday, June 5, 2025

Recipients have three options for receiving their grants: in person at authorized pay locations, by direct deposit into a bank account, or through their Sassa card.

The award money will be securely available for withdrawal at any time, Sassa reminds recipients, so there’s no need to rush to take it all out at once.

No Truth to Double Payment Claims

Social media posts that went popular recently made the erroneous premise that Sassa will be paying out quadruple grant payments in June. Sassa has categorically refuted these rumors and cautioned recipients against falling for unreliable sources.

According to Sassa spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi, “there is absolutely no truth to claims that double payments will be made in June.” “Our beneficiaries are unnecessarily alarmed by these untrue rumors.”

According to the agency, the only formal increases in grants were those that were declared in the March policy statement of the Finance Ministry and went into effect in April. October 2025 is the date of the next anticipated change to award amounts.

Avoiding Misinformation

With over 19 million beneficiaries depending on Sassa every month, the spread of misinformation can have real consequences. The agency urges the public to only trust updates from credible sources such as Sassa’s official website or verified media platforms.

“Any claim not announced by the relevant authorities should be treated as false,” added Letsatsi.

  • Your June Sassa payments are on schedule—no changes, no double payouts.

  • Always verify any changes to grant amounts or schedules through official Sassa channels.

  • Do not fall for fake news or unverified social media posts.

For accurate updates, beneficiaries are encouraged to visit www.sassa.gov.za or follow Sassa’s verified accounts.
