Woman Suffers Severe Injury at Total Ninja, Leading to Leg Amputation

A Johannesburg woman’s enjoyable day at an indoor obstacle course turned tragic when she suffered a severe injury from a fall that ultimately necessitated the amputation of her leg. The facility’s response to the incident and whether more could have been done to stop the outcome are currently being questioned.
Last month, Khethiwe Mngomezulu slipped during an activity at Total Ninja, injuring her knee and dislocating her arm. The facility vehemently disputes her allegation that she was taken to a sickroom and left alone following the fall.
Khethiwe Mgomezulu, a 27 year old girl from White City Jabavu, Soweto, went to Total Ninja for a friendly, fun retreat with her best friend and came back home without a leg. We demand accountantability, justice and reparations! pic.twitter.com/HTD17FBjZp

Mngomezulu was “immediately assisted by our onsite medic and three marshals,” according to a statement from Total Ninja spokesperson Glen, before being carried on a stretcher to the first aid room. According to Glen, the initial evaluation indicated a dislocated arm and a sprained knee.
According to the facility, Mngomezulu was not taken by ambulance and instead opted to depart with her sister in a private vehicle.
Glen stated, “We think she was taken to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.”
But according to Mngomezulu, Bheki Mlangeni Hospital was her first destination. Her condition had gotten worse by the time she was moved to Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in the early hours of the next day.
According to reports, doctors informed her that an infection in her leg had progressed too far and that an amputation was required to save her life. She claimed that a loss of blood flow was the cause of the infection.
The EFF Youth Command in Soweto has been supporting Mngomezulu since the incident. The group, Total Ninja, and Mngomezulu met last Saturday to talk about what transpired and potential future support.
According to Total Ninja, it has kept in touch with Mngomezulu and is presently taking her requests for more medical support into consideration.
Public worries regarding safety procedures and medical preparedness at recreational facilities have been raised by the incident. Even though Total Ninja insists that its employees followed protocol, the incident serves as a painful reminder of how crucial prompt medical attention is when there are serious injuries.
