A planned meeting in Nobody village, outside Polokwane, ended in a brutal assault in late December. Now, it has ended with a murder charge and a woman in handcuffs. Limpopo police have confirmed the arrest of a female suspect in connection with the death of a 33-year-old man, a tragic escalation from an assault that initially flew under the radar.
According to Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the provincial police spokesperson, the victim had arranged to meet the woman in the Nobody RDP section on 30 December 2025. The precise reason for their meeting remains shrouded in mystery, a key question at the heart of the ongoing investigation.
From an Assault to a Murder Case
The encounter turned violent. Police investigations indicate that the woman screamed, which appeared to be a signal. Following this, the victim was “brutally assaulted and robbed of his belongings” by the woman and a male accomplice. Though seriously injured, the man was taken to a hospital for treatment. Notably, no criminal case was opened at that time.
The situation turned fatal two weeks later. On 13 January 2026, the victim succumbed to the injuries sustained in the attack. His death at the hospital triggered an immediate reclassification of the incident from assault to murder, launching a focused police investigation.
A Swift Arrest, But a Search Continues
Detectives moved quickly following the murder report. Their work led them to a rented room in Nobody village, where they arrested the female suspect. Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the officers for their swift action.
However, the case is not closed. Police have confirmed that the search for the male accomplice who participated in the assault and robbery is still actively underway. The investigation aims to piece together the full sequence of events and the motive behind the fatal meeting.
The arrested woman is scheduled to make her first court appearance at the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 January 2026, where she will face a formal charge of murder. For the community of Nobody village, the arrest brings a measure of progress, but the shadow of the unanswered questionsand the hunt for a second suspectlingers.
