Hands Off: Aprilia Warns Rivals Over Jorge Martin Amid Exit Rumours

Jorge Martin is staying put, according to MotoGP team Aprilia, which has denied recent rumors that the defending world champion will be released from his contract early. Rival teams were also sharply warned by the Italian squad not to meddle with riders who were already under contract.
Martin has had a difficult start to the 2025 season. He signed a two-year contract with Aprilia after winning the MotoGP world championship with Pramac Racing. After six races, the 27-year-old has not scored a single point due to a string of injuries.
He suffered injuries to his wrist and ankle in a crash during preseason testing, which started his season. He only made a comeback in Qatar after missing the first three rounds. He was sidelined for weeks due to rib injuries and a collapsed lung from another crash.
According to Motorsport.com, Martin was dissatisfied and contemplating exercising a contract provision that would allow him to leave Aprilia at the end of 2025 during his delayed comeback. Ahead of this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone, however, Aprilia gave a firm response.
According to a statement released by the team, “Aprilia Racing and Jorge Martin have a contract that is valid and in effect until the end of 2026 and must be respected by both parties.”
Additionally, they asserted that no discussions to shorten the agreement had taken place, saying, “Aprilia Racing denies that any negotiations have taken place between the parties to modify the duration of the contract.”
“We remind all other teams that riders under contract should not receive offers,” the team said, urging other MotoGP teams to avoid Martin while he recovers. The whole crew is still behind Jorge and eager for him to fully recover.
Although Martin hasn’t responded to the contract rumors directly, he did allude to a return on social media by writing, “This comeback is personal.” Day 1
While Martin continues his recuperation, Aprilia will field Lorenzo Savadori and Marco Bezzecchi at Silverstone.
