The dream of seeing Bafana Bafana back on the world’s biggest football stage is edging closer to reality. On a chilly Friday night in Bloemfontein, Hugo Broos’ men turned up the heat with a convincing 3-0 victory over neighbours Lesotho, tightening their grip on top spot in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Still, for now, South Africans are allowing themselves to dream again. With Nkota, Foster, and Appollis leading a new generation, the possibility of hearing “Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika” ring out in the stadiums of USA, Mexico, and Canada in 2026 feels more real than ever.
