The IEC has proclaimed local government elections for 4 November 2026, published a tight timetable and closed the voters' roll as nominations open.
The IEC logged 1.7 million registration transactions over the final weekend; 291,016 were first-time registrations and the voters’ roll has added 2.1 million since 2024.
