If the smell of a freshly lit candle feels like therapy, and you’ve ever wondered how to bottle that feeling, this one’s for you.

Pretoria’s own Candle and Diffuser Making Workshop, hosted by Azania Essentials, is back with its monthly scent session that’s equal parts relaxing, educational, and entrepreneurial. Whether you’re chasing a new hobby or dreaming up a fragrance business, this workshop might just be your spark.

A Monthly Ritual for the Scent Obsessed

Held every first Saturday of the month at the City Lodge Hotel in Lynnwood Manor, the workshop runs from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM and is split into two parts:

  • Candle making (09:00 to 12:30) R1000

  • Diffuser and room & linen mist crafting (12:30 to 14:30) R600

  • Or grab the combo deal for R1500 and stay the full day

No need to bring anything; your tools, ingredients, drinks, training manual, and even parking are covered. You’ll walk away with two handmade candles, a reed diffuser, and a room spray, all crafted by your own hands.

What You’ll Actually Learn (Yes, It’s Practical)

This is not your average pour-and-go workshop. It’s a deep dive into:

  • Choosing the right wax (because not all wax is created equal)

  • Balancing fragrance and colour like a pro

  • The real difference between essential and fragrance oils

  • Making molded candles in glass and silicone

  • Avoiding the classic candle-making mistakes no one warns you about

In the diffuser segment, you’ll mix your own reed diffusers and linen sprays, experimenting with scent layering, alcohol blends, and how to bottle those calming aromas that scream “home spa.”

Why Locals Love It

Pretoria locals are loving the monthly workshops, with over 200 people already showing interest online. Some come to decompress; others come to level up a side hustle or add hand-poured products to their wedding and party favours.

And for groups, they even offer private bookings; think birthday parties, bridal showers, or team-building sessions hosted wherever you are.

The Business Angle, If You’re Thinking Bigger

While the class is great for hobbyists, it’s also geared toward those wanting to turn their new skills into an income stream. You’ll learn how to source ingredients, measure oils properly, and get the kind of insider knowledge that saves time, money, and wax.

If you’re serious about selling candles at markets or stocking homeware boutiques, this is a great foundational step, taught by experienced makers who have walked the same path.

Want In? Book Before the Seats Melt Away

Seats are limited each month, and the vibe is always friendly, curious, and supportive. All you need to bring is yourself, maybe an apron if you want to stay neat, and a little enthusiasm.

To book, head to azaniaessentials.co.za or send a WhatsApp to 082 842 5192.

Your home is about to smell very intentional.
