Kyalami Goes East African for a Day: Taste B4 Travel Brings the Continent Closer

This Saturday, Kyalami will feel a little more like Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia – and everywhere in between.
Marula Escapes is hosting an immersive cultural showcase called Taste B4 Travel – East Africa Edition at the elegant Favore Venue, and it promises to be more than just a food or travel event. It’s a celebration of connection – through cuisine, craft, storytelling, and sensory experience.
From 12pm to 6pm on Saturday, 28 June 2025, guests will be transported across borders without ever leaving Midrand.

A Taste of the Continent – Literally
At the heart of the event is food – and not just any food. The culinary journey has been curated by Chef Kim of Halwas African Restaurant, who brings together the textures and flavours of East Africa in a multi-course tasting experience.
Expect spice, tradition, and comfort in every bite. And if you’ve never taken part in a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, now’s your chance – it’s part of the live activations happening throughout the day.
Fashion, Storytelling & Safari Dreams
The event isn’t only about taste – it’s about seeing, feeling, and planning.
-
The runway comes alive with fashion from Amari Woman, bringing bold African silhouettes to life.
-
Live poetry and storytelling will transport guests from Kyalami to Kampala.
-
Safari lovers can step into the wild via luxury lodge previews and guided virtual activations, complete with off-road vehicle showcases.
And if travel’s on your mind? You’ll meet real tourism partners, airlines, and luxury lodge brands offering tailored journeys, specials, and inspiration for your next East African adventure.
