Benoni Braces for a Full-Day Fiesta at the Tequila and Mexican Food Festival 2025

A taste of Mexico in the heart of Benoni

Benoni is about to turn up the heat. On Saturday, 23 August 2025, the Tequila and Mexican Food Festival will transform the Benoni Northerns Indians Baseball Club into a day-long fiesta of bold flavours, colourful culture, and big beats.

From 11 am until 11 pm, festivalgoers can expect a feast of Mexican classics (think tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and guacamole) alongside more tequila than you can count. Multiple bars and tequila stalls will be on hand to keep the spirits high, with beer gardens and shaded areas giving you space to catch your breath between bites and sips.

The soundtrack to your Saturday

Live entertainment kicks off at midday, bringing a line-up of some of South Africa’s favourite acts to the main stage. Die Heuwels Fantasties, Matthew Mole, Will Linley, Van Pletzen, Biggy, Zebra, Zaan Sonnekus, and Pedro Barbosa will keep the vibe alive deep into the night. Expect sing-alongs, dancing, and more than a few spontaneous conga lines.

Beyond the food and music, the festival promises a sprawling, easygoing setup with multiple seating areas, standing zones, picnic blankets welcome, and a stretch net area to laze in between sets. With no under-18s allowed, not even babies or toddlers, the crowd will be strictly adult, keeping the atmosphere lively and unfiltered.

Organisers are clear about the rules: no outside food or drink, no camp-style umbrellas or cooler boxes, no hubblies, no pets (except guide dogs), and absolutely no weapons or illegal substances. In other words, bring your ID, bring your appetite, and bring your dancing shoes.
