FlySafair Partners With Bootlegger To Bring Local Coffee Onboard

South Africans love their coffee, and now travellers will be able to sip on a cup of Bootlegger while flying to their next destination. FlySafair has announced a nationwide partnership with the beloved coffee retailer, Bootlegger, rolling out freshly brewed favourites on all domestic routes from Wednesday, 17 September.
A Local Brand Takes To The Skies
Bootlegger has become a household name in South Africa, known for its bold blends, stylish cafés, and a loyal community of caffeine lovers. From Cape Town’s bustling Sea Point to Johannesburg’s busy suburbs, Bootlegger has carved out a reputation for quality and consistency.
Now, they’re partnering with FlySafair, South Africa’s leading low-cost carrier, feels like a natural step in its rapid growth story.
Onboard menus will now feature four signature drinks: the Bootlegger Colombia FD Blend Americano, Bootlegger Cappuccino, Bootlegger Chocolate Latte, and a comforting selection of Dilmah Ceylon and Rooibos teas.
More Than Just Coffee
Kirby Gordon, FlySafair’s Chief Marketing Officer, explained that the collaboration was about more than beverages. It’s about elevating the travel experience while championing local businesses. “Bootlegger’s rapid growth trajectory and premium positioning aligned with our commitment to enhancing passenger experience while supporting South African brands,” he said.
For passengers, this means swapping out generic instant brews for a taste of something proudly local. For the airline, it’s another way of showing that even low-cost carriers can offer memorable touches.
Social Buzz And Local Pride
Travelers have already taken to social media with excitement. On X, one passenger wrote, “Finally, a decent cappuccino at 35,000 feet. Big win for SA travellers!” Others praised the decision to support a homegrown brand instead of international chains, with one Instagram comment reading, “Bootlegger on board? That’s so proudly South African.”
Coffee Culture Meets Travel Culture
South Africans are passionate about their coffee culture, and this partnership blends that love with the nation’s equally strong travel spirit. Whether it’s business trips between Johannesburg and Cape Town, or quick weekend getaways to Durban, passengers can now expect a little taste of Bootlegger in the sky.
With this move, FlySafair is reminding travellers that small details make the biggest difference. A good cup of coffee can turn a flight from routine into something to look forward to.
