Inside SAHETI School Johannesburg where academic excellence meets care

Tucked away in the quiet suburb of Senderwood, Bedfordview, SAHETI School is one of those places that feels like more than just a school. It is a space where children grow up surrounded by care, where academics are taken seriously, and where identity and culture are honoured without excluding anyone.
Founded in 1974 by human rights advocate George Bizos, SAHETI was created as a space for diverse learners to receive an excellent, values-based education. Today it stands among South Africa’s leading independent schools, offering education from Playschool through to Matric, with around 1,300 students.
More Than a School Building
SAHETI’s campus does not just look beautiful, it has been recognised by the Institute of South African Architects for its thoughtful design. But the real charm comes from how that space is used. The fields are alive with sport, the halls echo with music and drama, and every corner invites connection.
Whether learners are taking part in a science fair, writing exams, or playing under the jacarandas, SAHETI feels lived in and loved.
Where Excellence Is the Standard
From the very beginning, SAHETI has had a reputation for dynamic teaching and strong academic results. Its matric pass rate is consistently high, with many learners going on to local and international universities. But what really makes SAHETI different is that success is measured not only in marks but also in confidence, character, and curiosity.
The school places strong emphasis on languages, sciences, arts, and leadership, creating well-rounded learners ready for the real world.
One Community from Toddlers to Teens
SAHETI is one of the few schools that offers a complete educational journey on one campus. The Playschool accepts children from 14 months, and learners can stay all the way through to Grade 12. This structure gives children a sense of continuity and community that builds trust and comfort.
From Grade 000 to Matric, the SAHETI journey is about knowing yourself, growing steadily, and always having the same shared values at heart.

Not Just Academic; Whole Child Focus
SAHETI learners are encouraged to explore everything from sports and music to service and public speaking. The school supports academic growth but also puts major focus on emotional well-being, self-expression, and care for others.
There are strong aftercare systems, early morning care, community outreach initiatives, and a school culture that genuinely prioritises support over pressure.
