SUMMARY:Africa's oldest Pride march returns to Sandton streets
DESCRIPTION:Johannesburg Pride fills Katherine Street in Sandton on Saturday 31 October. Entry is free\, the festival runs from 11:00 to midnight\, the march leaves at 14:00\, and the venue is wheelchair accessible. Organisers describe it as Africa's oldest Pride\, dating back to 1990.\n\nExpect music and dance performances\, food trucks\, vendors\, community stalls\, health services and wellness activities. The celebration builds all month through Pride of Africa Month\, which begins with a kickoff on 3 October\, adds an all-white party on 10 October and brings back The Queer Met on 24 October under the theme African Archives.\n\nGetting there is simple. The Gautrain to Sandton Station puts you a short walk from the parade footprint. Wear comfortable shoes\, carry water and sunscreen\, and travel with friends so everyone gets home together.
