The clarification came after the EFF demanded a detailed cost analysis. Parliament explained that its spending covered operational facilities during the sessions, while the Department of Public Works handled expenses related to the venue, the Niewmeester Dome.
The EFF has also urged the Department of Public Works to present its own cost report to ensure full accountability.
However, according to SABC News, ANC Chief Whip Mdumiseni Ntuli dismissed the focus on the spending, accusing critics of misrepresenting facts about the previous sittings. He stood by the legitimacy of the 12 February budget presentation.
