Marise and Handré Pollard Close UK Chapter, Embrace Return to SA

Springbok fly-half Handré Pollard and his wife Marise are getting ready to leave the Leicester Tigers after two years in the English Midlands and return to South Africa.

This week, Marise posted a heartfelt message on social media, expressing how much she will miss their Market Harborough lifestyle. She wrote, “I’ve been here for the past week, and my heart is heavy.” “I’m going to really miss our life here.”

Pollard moved to Leicester in 2022 after initially leaving South Africa in 2019 to join Montpellier, a team in the French Top 14. As that chapter comes to an end, he is excited to rejoin the Bulls in Pretoria, where he has agreed to a two-year contract that will start in July.

Over the past five years, the couple has traveled throughout Europe, and their return home is both personal and professional. Earlier this year, Pollard said, “It’s something I don’t take for granted,” in reference to this next step. I’m ecstatic to be able to return home after a fantastic few years abroad.

As the couple gets ready to welcome their second child, the move is even more memorable. Only a year after the birth of their first child in April 2024, Marise announced her pregnancy last month.

The Pollards have been married since 2017 and have traveled far together, from quiet family life overseas to international stadiums. As Pollard prepares to return to the Bulls and continue, they are now prepared to return to their familiar surroundings.
