Johannesburg mornings can be crisp in midwinter, but that’s not stopping one of the city’s most joyful global exports from turning up the vibes. Secret Sunrise Johannesburg is inviting Joburgers to shake off the chill and warm up from the inside out at a feel-good morning dance session like no other.

Set to take place on Sunday, 13 July 2025, at 8:30 am, the Winter Warm Up lands at the leafy Old Edwardian Society in Houghton. Expect music, movement, mindfulness and some well-earned chocolate.

Start Your Sunday Differently

Forget the snooze button. Secret Sunrise is known for its unique combination of silent disco, guided movement, and community connection. Attendees wear wireless headphones and are led through a sunrise dance by trained facilitators; think mindfulness, breathwork, stretching, and joyful, uninhibited dancing.

This month’s theme is about celebrating the little things that bring us warmth in winter, and yes, that includes World Chocolate Day and International Ice Cream Day, both of which fall in July. Chocolate giveaways are promised for those showing their most spirited dance moves.
