Tyla brings the party to Berlin with surprise mixtape reveal and golden moment

From streaming records to global stages, South Africa’s own Tyla is riding the kind of wave most artists only dream about. And this week, that wave landed in Berlin, where she gave fans a moment to remember — confetti, cocktails, and all.

On Monday, July 14, Tyla took her fans in Germany on a wild ride, hosting a surprise launch party to preview new tracks from her upcoming “We Wanna Party” mixtape. It was less red carpet, more pure joy: an afternoon of dancing, donuts, and drinks inspired by her music.

Fans danced with Tyla, literally

At a time when most pop stars are guarded behind velvet ropes and curated social posts, Tyla brought a refreshingly real experience to her Berlin fans. The 23-year-old Grammy winner didn’t just perform — she partied. Side by side with her supporters, she danced to her own hits and to tracks from Nigerian Afrobeats artist Rema, making the gathering feel more like a block party than a promotional stop.

Photos and videos quickly started circulating on TikTok and X, with Berlin fans posting: “She’s unreal in person!” and “Tyla just threw the best party I’ve ever been to.” Others were quick to share snaps of the limited-edition cocktails — each one cleverly doubling as a teaser for new songs.

New music, cleverly disguised as cocktails

Tyla used a custom drinks menu to quietly reveal two fresh tracks from her upcoming mixtape. One, titled “Dynamite”, was served with a kick of tequila, grapefruit lemonade, and lime. The other, “Chanel”, sparkled with champagne and orange juice.

Both titles sparked instant buzz among fans, who were already hooked on her current singles “Is It” and “Bliss”. The mixtape rollout continues this week, with a second exclusive party planned in London on July 16, where more tracks will likely be announced.

A golden milestone for “Water”

As if the day couldn’t get any bigger, Tyla was surprised with a special award: a gold certification plaque for her 2023 breakout hit, “Water”, which has officially gone Gold in Germany. It’s yet another notch on her growing list of accolades, and a proud moment not just for her, but for the South African music community watching her journey unfold on the world stage.

More than a mixtape, it’s a movement

Tyla’s Berlin stop was more than just a launch party. It was a cultural moment: a celebration of South African talent thriving globally, and of a young artist staying grounded and fun while still breaking barriers.

As fans count down to the full “We Wanna Party” mixtape release, one thing is clear — Tyla isn’t just inviting us to listen to her music. She’s inviting us to live in it.
