Entries Now Open For The 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon
The countdown has begun. Entries for the 2026 Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon (TTOM) are now open, and thousands of runners across South Africa and beyond are already preparing to secure their place in one of the country’s most iconic sporting events.
The 2026 edition will see the legendary Ultra Marathon take place on Saturday, 11 April, followed by the popular Half Marathon on Sunday, 12 April.
A Race Woven Into Cape Town’s Identity
More than just a test of endurance, the Two Oceans Marathon has become part of Cape Town’s cultural fabric. Nicknamed “the world’s most beautiful marathon,” the race snakes along breathtaking coastal routes that showcase the Mother City’s natural splendour, from the Atlantic seaboard to the slopes of Table Mountain.
For over 50 years, it has been more than a race: it’s a pilgrimage for runners. Whether it’s locals chasing their first half or international athletes eyeing the coveted Ultra, the Two Oceans is a bucket-list event.
Chris Goldschmidt, Chair of the Two Oceans Marathon Interim Board, captured the spirit best: “We know this event holds a special place in many runner’s hearts, and we’re committed to elevating the race experience to new heights.”
A Fresh Approach With A Ballot System
Entries for 2026 will once again be managed through a ballot draw, which opened on Monday, 15 September 2025. This system, now familiar to runners, levels the playing field, giving everyonefrom seasoned Ultra veterans to hopeful first-timersa fair shot at a bib.
Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, the new staging partner, highlighted the responsibility of taking the event forward: “Few races in the world carry the heritage and emotion of the Two Oceans. We are humbled to honour its legacy while building an even brighter future.”
Why It Matters
The Two Oceans Marathon is more than just sportit’s a celebration of resilience, community, and South African spirit. From the water tables manned by cheerful volunteers to the chants of supporters lining the course, the atmosphere captures what makes running in South Africa unique.
As April 2026 approaches, Cape Town will once again become the beating heart of global distance running. For now, the question is simple: will your name be drawn in the ballot?
