Iran Says 1,230 Killed In US And Israeli Strikes As Conflict Intensifies
The human cost of the latest escalation in the Middle East is becoming clearer. Iranian officials say the death toll from United States and Israeli airstrikes has climbed to 1,230 people, just days after the conflict erupted.
The figures were released on Thursday by Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, offering one of the most detailed updates yet on the impact of the attacks inside the country.
Casualties Continue To Rise
According to Iranian authorities, thousands more have been injured since the fighting began over the weekend.
The Iranian Health Ministry reported on Wednesday that 6,186 people have been wounded in the strikes. Among them, 2,054 remain hospitalized, while 3,545 were treated and discharged after receiving medical care. Another 552 people were treated directly at the scene of the attacks without needing hospital admission.
Hossein Kermanpour, who heads the ministry’s Public Relations and Information Center, shared the latest breakdown of the casualty figures.
How The Conflict Escalated
The fighting began on Saturday when Israel and the United States launched coordinated strikes on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, according to Iranian officials.
The attacks had major political consequences. Iranian authorities say the strikes killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with members of his family, senior military commanders, and civilians.
The development has dramatically reshaped the regional crisis and raised fears of a wider war.
Iran Responds With Missile And Drone Attacks
Following the strikes, Iran launched waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US-linked assets across the Middle East.
The retaliatory strikes signalled Tehran’s willingness to escalate the confrontation beyond its borders, increasing tensions across a region already on edge.
With casualties still rising and military exchanges continuing, the situation remains volatile, leaving many countries watching closely as the conflict unfolds.
