CAF later ruled that Senegal had breached regulations after players, head coach Pape Thiaw, and staff walked off the pitch in protest when Morocco were awarded a late penalty. Although Brahim Diaz missed the spot kick, the disciplinary outcome proved far more decisive than the moment itself.

On 17 March, CAF overturned the result and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory, effectively handing them the title.

Senegal Pushes Back
