These Joburg Areas Will Go Dark Next Week: Industria, Riverlea, UJ Affected

Residents in parts of Johannesburg will face scheduled power outages next week as City Power Johannesburg rolls out planned maintenance across several substations.

The utility said the interruptions form part of efforts to improve service delivery and maintain its electricity network.

Industria Substation (Monday, 13 April)

Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Affected areas:

• Industria West

• Bosmont

• Industria North

• Newclare

• Kathrada Park (Newclare section)

• Slovo Park

• Vega Switching Station

Industria Substation (Tuesday, 14 April)

Time: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Affected areas:

• Riverlea

• Langlaagte

• Industria

• Sunspray

• Longdale

• Yeast Pro

Hursthill Substation (Wednesday, 15 April)

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Affected areas:

• University of Johannesburg’s Auckland Park campus

• Chislehurst Drive

• Ditton Avenue

• Ripley Road

Cydna Substation (Monday–Wednesday, 13–15 April)

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm daily

Affected areas: Parts of Riviera and surrounding areas

Load Shedding Remains Suspended

City Power emphasised that these outages are unrelated to load shedding , which “has been suspended until further notice.”

Residents have been urged to take precautions:

• Unplug all appliances to prevent inrush current when power is restored

• Treat electricity supply points as live at all times (power may be restored at any time)
