Two men to appear in Nebo court over business robbery; gun and stolen goods seized
Two men arrested in connection with a business robbery are due to appear at the Nebo Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo, police said on 29 June 2026. The arrests followed a high-speed police chase and the recovery of an unlicensed firearm and items believed to have been taken during the robbery.
How police tracked and stopped the vehicle
Members of the police responded to a request for backup from a security company after officers there spotted a Toyota Etios matching the description of a vehicle allegedly used in the reported business robbery. A high-speed chase followed, during which police stopped the vehicle and arrested a 34-year-old man.
Firearm, ammunition and suspected stolen goods recovered
Officers found a pistol tucked into the waistband of the 34-year-old suspect. The firearm was loaded with three live rounds of ammunition and had its serial number filed off. The suspect did not produce any licence or documentation authorising possession of the firearm and ammunition. Following a search of the vehicle, police recovered groceries and cigarettes believed to have been stolen during the robbery. The suspect was detained at Nebo SAPS and the exhibits were seized for further investigation.
Second arrest and charges
On Saturday around midday, the Nebo and Jane Furse Tracking Team, with a detective on standby, acted on information about the whereabouts of an outstanding suspect. The team went to Mokwete Village and arrested a 33-year-old. Police charged the first suspect with two counts of business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, while the second suspect was charged with business robbery. Members said they were still investigating and attempting to trace and apprehend remaining outstanding suspects.
Separate firearm incidents in Western Cape
Police also reported separate, unrelated searches and arrests in the Western Cape. In Mentz Court, Hanover Park, an anti-gang unit recovered a 9mm pistol with 23 rounds of ammunition during a premises search; a 42-year-old male was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and is expected to appear before the Athlone Magistrate’s Court once charged.
In another intervention in Grassy Park, a 17-year-old female was apprehended after a search in Ottery’s Hooggenoeg Court uncovered a 9mm pistol containing seven rounds of ammunition. She is expected to appear at the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
What authorities say next
Police have seized the firearms and exhibits connected to the Limpopo arrests and have indicated that investigations are ongoing as they seek to locate other suspects linked to the business robbery.
