Two foreign nationals arrested in Edenvale crystal meth bust valued at R250,000

Two foreign nationals were arrested in Edenvale after coordinated police raids in Acasia Estate recovered crystal meth with a combined estimated street value of R250,000, police said.

Raids followed intelligence on suspected drug houses

The operation was carried out by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit together with the South African Police Service (Saps) Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI). The arrests followed intelligence about two houses believed to be used for drug dealing in Acasia Estate.

Drugs seized at two locations

At the first residence officers intercepted a 48-year-old male. A search uncovered 162.21 grams of crushed crystal meth, which was valued at approximately R150,000.

At a second property, located at the corner of 6th Avenue and 11th Street, officers detained a 27-year-old male. He was found in possession of 1,071.33 grams of uncrushed crystal meth, with a street value of about R100,000.

Arrests and next steps

Both suspects were arrested and detained at Edenvale Police Station, facing charges of possession of illicit substances. They are expected to appear before the Edenvale Magistrate’s Court soon.
