R50,000 reward offered after Nyanga killing of Ghanaian businessman
Western Cape police are offering a cash reward of up to R50,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the killing of a Ghanaian national in Nyanga.
Who was killed and where
The South African Police Service (SAPS) identified the victim as 35-year-old Bashira Issaka. Police said Issaka was shot and killed inside his red container business premises on 29 June 2026 at about 3.45pm.
Alleged motive and circumstances
According to SAPS, the suspects allegedly entered the business, demanded a protection fee and then fatally shot Issaka.
Police appeal and investigation
Police spokesman Thembakazi Mpendukana said investigators are pursuing leads to identify and apprehend those responsible.
“The investigating officer is exploring all avenues in a bid to bring the perpetrators to book and reaches out to the community for assistance,”
Mpendukana added that members of the public who may have information are being urged to come forward, and that the identities of informants would be protected.
“Identities of those who offer their assistance will remain anonymous. A cash reward is offered for the successful arrest and conviction of the suspects,”

The case is being investigated by Sergeant Donovan Peterson of the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes unit. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Peterson on 084-684-0909 or to call Crime Stop on 08600-10111.
