IDAC boss Andrea Johnson back at work after hospital scare; Madlanga Commission told she will testify next week
According to IOL, Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Andrea Johnson has returned to work after a medical emergency that forced her to miss a scheduled appearance before the Madlanga Commission earlier this week. Multiple sources told IOL she has since been subpoenaed and is expected to testify before the inquiry early next week.
Medical emergency and return to duties
IOL reports that Johnson was taken to hospital earlier this week and did not attend the commission as planned. She has since returned to work, the publication says.
Subpoena and expected testimony
Multiple sources told IOL that Johnson has been subpoenaed and is expected to appear before the Madlanga Commission early next week.
Official responses
Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels declined to give detail about Johnson’s situation but told reporters an update would follow.
“I can’t really say much on that, but you should expect communication next week,” Michaels said, according to IOL.
Meetings and confirmation
Speaking on The Clement Manyathela Show, National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said NPA head Andy Mothibi met privately with Johnson on Thursday. Kganyago also said Johnson was well and indicated she had returned to work and was ready to appear before the commission, IOL reported.
What happens next
IOL describes the developments as ongoing and says an official communication from the commission is expected next week. Further details were not provided in the report.
