Seven killed in early-morning collision on N4 between Ngodwana and Mbombela

Seven people died in a collision involving two minibus taxis and a truck on the N4 toll road between Ngodwana and Mbombela in the early hours of Thursday, 23 July 2026, the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison confirmed.

What happened

The department said the crash occurred on the N4 between Ngodwana and Nelspruit (Mbombela) in the early hours of Thursday morning. Emergency services attended the scene where victims were found following the collision.

Casualties and official comment

Seven people have reportedly died as a result of the crash. Department spokesperson Moeti Mmusi told IOL that four people died at the scene.

“Three occupants of one of the minibuses were burned beyond recognition,” Mmusi said.
