A smart street camera alert and rapid coordination between private security and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) led to the recovery of a truck in Durant Street, Petit, and the arrest of two men, The Citizen reported.
How the recovery unfolded
According to The Citizen, the EMPD Northern Region Task Team located the vehicle after a smart camera detected it and relayed the information to a private security company. EMPD members responded and traced the truck to a yard on Durant Street, where it was found parked.

The Citizen says two male suspects were intercepted and charged with possession of suspected stolen property.
“The truck has been secured while further investigations are under way to establish its ownership and determine its status,” said EMPD Chief Superintendent Kelebogile Thepa.
