Tsaka RSA remains in custody over unlicensed firearm charges

Limpopo musician Nkgodisheng Paul Madubanya, popularly known as Tsaka RSA, remains in custody after appearing in court over the alleged possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The 29-year-old briefly appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 October, following his arrest at his home in Polokwane.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that the matter had been postponed to 19 October 2026 for a formal bail application.

NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi said the accused would remain behind bars until his next court appearance.

“The accused remains in custody. As the matter is before court, no further details can be disclosed at this stage,” Malabi said.

How Tsaka RSA was arrested

Madubanya’s arrest followed a police operation on 9 October, after South African Police Service (SAPS) members allegedly received information that he was in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police reportedly went to his residence in Rethabile Gardens, Polokwane, where they allegedly found him with a firearm and ammunition.

He was subsequently arrested and charged.

The allegations have not yet been tested in court, and the musician has not been convicted of the offences.

Separate developments in the AKA and Tibz murder trial

Meanwhile, proceedings in the high-profile murder trial of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane resumed at the Durban High Court on Monday following a three-hour delay.

The State called a witness who testified about an operation linked to the arrest of Siyanda Eddie Myeza, a former member of the SAPS Tactical Response Team.

Myeza is one of seven men standing trial over the February 2023 murders of AKA and Tibz, who were shot dead outside a restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road on 10 February 2023.

During his testimony, the witness described an operation in Umlazi’s L Section in April 2023. Police had allegedly received intelligence about a suspect believed to be in possession of a firearm.

Myeza has denied being in possession of a firearm when he was arrested.

The testimony forms part of the State’s case concerning firearms allegedly linked to the high-profile murders. The case against the seven accused remains before the court.
