SASSA November 2026 grant payment dates explained
South African social grant beneficiaries will need to take note of an adjusted payment schedule for November 2026, with SASSA moving payment dates ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
The revised arrangements are intended to keep grant payments running smoothly during the election period, following consultations between the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), various stakeholders and National Treasury, which approved the changes.
For millions of households that rely on social grants to cover essentials such as food, transport and electricity, knowing when money will arrive can make a real difference to monthly budgeting.
When will SASSA grants be paid?
Under the revised schedule, payments will be staggered across three days, depending on the type of grant.
- Older Persons Grant: Friday, 30 October 2026
- Disability Grant: Monday, 2 November 2026
- Children’s Grants: Tuesday, 3 November 2026
SASSA says the adjusted dates are designed to support the efficient and secure administration of payments during the period surrounding the local government elections.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to check the dates applicable to their grants and plan their household expenses accordingly.
What beneficiaries need to know about grant reviews
SASSA has also reminded beneficiaries whose grants are under review to respond to official communication from the agency and attend review appointments when requested.
An additional payment date on 5 November 2026 is specifically intended for beneficiaries whose grants fall within the review process.
Anyone who has received a review notice should pay attention to the instructions provided and avoid ignoring requests for information or appointments.
SASSA urges beneficiaries to avoid unnecessary trips
With the revised payment dates announced, SASSA is advising beneficiaries not to rush to its offices unnecessarily.
Payments will be processed according to the published schedule, meaning beneficiaries should use the relevant payment date to guide their plans.
The agency has also warned the public to be cautious about misinformation and disinformation surrounding social grants.
