Gayton McKenzie Declares War on Racist Podcast Remarks

Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie has vowed to take legal action against the hosts of the Open Chats Podcast after a viral clip surfaced making offensive and racially charged remarks about South Africa’s Coloured community.

In the widely circulated video, the podcast hosts suggest that Coloured families engage in sexual relationships with relatives and suffer from mental health issues — statements that have been met with shock, anger and disbelief online.

McKenzie, a proud advocate for Coloured identity and heritage, wasted no time in rallying his legal team to act. “I want a report today of how we are going to deal with those people who said Coloureds are crazy. We must use everything at our disposal,” he told supporters. “It’s racism. We must never allow people to become that comfortable.”

Here’s my thoughts on what was said on the Open Chats Podcast. It is 2025. We must understand the strength we have within our unity. That’s why I am HAPPY that the Patriotic Alliance is going to be doing something about this! We only have us! #southafricanpolitics #politics

A Community Under Attack

The Coloured community has long faced harmful stereotypes in South Africa, often rooted in historical prejudice. For McKenzie, this latest insult is a reminder of the need to challenge such narratives head-on.

He also noted the perceived double standard in how racial insults are treated. “If Coloured people made those remarks about any other race group, it would be front-page news,” he said.

The Podcast Responds

Following the backlash, the Open Chats Podcast team removed the offending clip from the episode and insisted they do not promote or support racism or discrimination. However, many online feel the damage is already done, and the apology rings hollow.

Open chats podcast is disgusting and it is disappointing to see that racism still thrives within the youth amongst us. When will South Africans and people in general stop these racist remarks and comments about one another ? Social Media Reaction

Social media lit up with outrage after the clip went viral. On X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote, “This is disgusting. People think they can insult Coloureds and face no consequences.” Others applauded McKenzie’s swift response, saying it sends a strong message that racist rhetoric won’t be tolerated.

What Happens Next?

McKenzie has promised to address his supporters at 7pm to outline the legal steps his party will take. While the details of the plan remain under wraps, the Patriotic Alliance leader’s determination signals that this fight is far from over.

Whether this case will set a precedent for holding online content creators accountable for racial slurs remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: the conversation about respect, dignity and racial harmony in South Africa has just been reignited.
