The final pens are down, the last exam booklets have been collected, and for the Matric class of 2025, the long, anxious wait for results has officially begun. After writing their final papers on 27 November, students can now mark their calendars with the crucial dates that will define their next steps.

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has confirmed the full schedule for the release of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) results and the subsequent processes for queries and remarks.

The Big Day: When to Get Your Results

The national results will be officially announced by the Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, on Monday, 12 January 2026.

On this day, learners can collect their official statements of results from the school or exam centre where they wrote. For those who prefer to check online, the results will become available on the DBE website at 6:00 AM on Tuesday, 13 January 2026.

What to Do the Moment You Get Your Results

The department is urging all candidates to take one critical step as soon as they receive their statement: check their personal details.

“Candidates must ensure that names and identity numbers reflect correctly on their statement of results,” the DBE stated, adding that any corrections must be reported to the department before 20 February 2026.

If You Want to Query Your Marks

For students who believe their paper was not marked accurately, there is a formal process to follow. The window for applying for a re-mark or re-check is short but clear:

  • Application Period: Opens on 13 January and closes on 27 January 2026.

  • Where to Apply: Applications can be submitted at your school, district offices, or online.

  • Cost: A re-mark will cost R120 per subject, while a re-check (to ensure all answers were marked and totalled correctly) costs R30 per subject.

If you are still unsatisfied after a re-mark or re-check, you can apply to view your physical script. This costs R230 and the closing date for applications is seven days after the re-mark results are released.

The outcomes of re-marking will be released from 13 March 2026, and must be collected from your school or exam centre.

With the exams complete, the DBE has assured the public that all systems are in place to ensure the delivery of accurate and timely results for the Class of 2025.
