Pads For Progress Charity Run 2025

Run for Dignity on Women’s Day 2025: Daveyton’s Pads For Progress Charity Run
A meaningful dash for dignity
This Saturday, 9 August 2025, the streets around Daveyton Mall will come alive, not with flashy finishes or podium moments, but with a celebration of womanhood, community, and educational dignity. The Pads For Progress Charity Run is back, and it’s inviting everyone, from runners to walkers, families to furry companions, to join a cause that hits home for thousands of South African schoolgirls.
There’s no entry fee. Instead, participants are asked to bring at least two packs of sanitary pads. Simple, tangible, and transformative, these donations go directly to schoolgirls who might otherwise miss class because they don’t have the menstrual products they need.

What to Expect
The 5 km route welcomes all paces and faces, joggers, strollers, kids, and pets too. The spirit of the day isn’t about race times; it’s about impact. Signing up on Eventbrite confirms your place and ensures your effort becomes part of something bigger than just the run. Every pad collected helps a girl stay in school, stay confident, and stay on track.
A Cause Rooted in Local Spirit
Pads For Progress is a grassroots initiative tackling the ongoing stigma and access gap surrounding menstrual health in South Africa. Women’s Day commemorates the 1956 march where 20 000 women protested against apartheid pass laws and this event channels that legacy into a 2025 fight for dignity.
An estimated 30% of schoolgirls in South Africa still miss school regularly due to a lack of access to sanitary pads. This run helps to close that gap, one step at a time.
How the Community Has Responded
Excitement is spreading through local Facebook groups and WhatsApp chats. One Daveyton runner shared, “I’m bringing my whole family, even the dog, because this fight matters.” Nearby schools, churches, and sports teams have also pledged support through bulk donations and group entries.
A local volunteer added, “It’s not just a pad; we’re giving girls back their confidence.” With donations pouring in, the event’s message is clear: period poverty is everyone’s business.

Even if you can’t attend on the day, you’re still encouraged to donate. Simply drop off unopened sanitary pads at Sizakuwe in Daveyton before 9 August, or contact the organisers to arrange collection. Every pack collected will be distributed directly to girls in need.
