Oscar Pistorius’s dad, Henke, is stirring the pot again. He’s calling out Gerrie Nel, the fierce prosecutor behind his son’s high-profile trial, and wants to hash things out publicly. This latest move has Joburg buzzing, reminding us that the Oscar story still holds plenty of heat.

Henke’s Call for Truth and Transparency

In a recent chat on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored show, Henke didn’t hold back. He slammed the National Prosecuting Authority for what he calls sloppy and misleading work during Oscar’s trial. And he pointed his finger squarely at Gerrie Nel, accusing him of bending facts and bullying Oscar in court.

Henke wants a straightforward conversation – a proper face-off where questions get real answers. “Oscar was just an athlete, thrown into the lion’s den,” Henke said. “I want to put Gerrie Nel on the spot and clear the air.”

The Trial That Captured a Nation’s Attention

Remember Valentine’s Day 2013? That day changed everything. Oscar Pistorius shot Reeva Steenkamp in his Pretoria home, setting off a legal rollercoaster that gripped South Africa and the world.

First, Oscar was found guilty of culpable homicide in 2014. Then the courts upgraded it to murder in 2015, handing him six years inside. An appeal saw his sentence more than double in 2017 – now 13 years and five months. Fast forward to January 2024, Oscar was granted parole after serving half his time, but he’s got strict conditions until 2029.

The case still splits opinions, with plenty of folks questioning the whole saga.

Gerrie Nel: The Bulldog Still Biting

Known as “the Bulldog” for his relentless courtroom style, Gerrie Nel left the National Prosecuting Authority in 2017. Since then, he’s been keeping busy with AfriForum’s private prosecutions, tackling headline-grabbing cases left, right, and centre.

His role in the Oscar trial remains one for the books. And now Henke’s call-out has pushed Nel back into the spotlight.

What’s Next? The Streets Are Watching

Will Gerrie Nel step up and respond? The nation’s waiting. Henke’s bold move reignites the debate about justice, fairness, and what really happened behind those courtroom doors.

This story isn’t going away anytime soon.

Where Do You Stand?

Do you think Gerrie Nel should take Henke’s offer and set the record straight? Or is this just another chapter in an already heated saga?
