A Night Where Underground Sounds Collide

Johannesburg’s nightlife is about to get another serious adrenaline shot. The much-loved Raving in Johannesburg party is back this November, and this time it’s going bigger, bolder, and bass-heavier than ever before.

On Friday, 7 November, the city’s pulse will beat through Club A.M in Newtown, transforming the space into a playground of rhythm, energy, and pure electronic escapism. This isn’t your average night out; it’s an immersive fusion of Gqom and Techno, two powerhouse genres that have shaped global underground culture in wildly different ways, now colliding right here in Jozi.

The Line-Up That’s Got Everyone Talking

Headlining the night is PalaisVert, a boundary-breaking French producer known for cinematic sets that layer deep, world-inspired rhythms over hypnotic techno beats. He’s the kind of artist who can take you from a Parisian warehouse to an African sunrise all in one track.

Joining him is an electrifying local lineup that captures the raw energy of South Africa’s underground. Expect explosive sets from Ekstra Emma, Rosie Parade, Volume, Jean Paul, Minisibisi, Fela Gucci, and Kiing Bhutie, each known for their fearless approach to sound.

The mix is deliberate: international polish meets South African grit. It’s a sonic dialogue between two worlds, proof that Jozi’s club culture is as experimental and globally relevant as ever.

Why It Hits Different in Johannesburg

Gqom, born from Durban’s townships, has always carried a rebellious pulse, heavy, minimal, and unapologetically local. Techno, on the other hand, brings structure, precision, and an otherworldly atmosphere. Together, they create something entirely new: a high-octane, cross-cultural rhythm that feels right at home in a city built on movement and reinvention.

Club A.M, tucked into Newtown’s creative grid at 39 Gwigwi Mrwebi Street, offers the perfect industrial backdrop for the night. The space will host ravers from 10 pm till sunrise, with no one under 21 allowed. Tickets start from R150, and they’re moving fast.

More Than a Party

At its heart, Raving in Johannesburg is about community. It’s about bringing artists, dreamers, and night owls together to celebrate sound without boundaries. In a city that never stops evolving, this event is a reminder that Johannesburg doesn’t just follow trends; it creates them.

When the lights go down and the bass takes over, Newtown will once again prove why it remains the soul of South African nightlife.
